BSOC Class 27-010 Completes First Level of Knowledge Board at Navy Supply Corps School

News originally published by

DVIDS - Georgia

The Level of Knowledge Board provides students an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of foundational military concepts, including joint warfare, echelons, the administrative and operational chain of command, ethics and leadership, and Division Officer (DIVO) responsibilities. Beyond evaluating subject-matter knowledge, the board emphasizes boardsmanship, professional communication, military bearing, and the ability to confidently articulate information in a formal setting.

During the board, students are challenged to communicate their understanding clearly, respond to questions, demonstrate critical thinking, and maintain professional composure. These skills are essential to developing officers who can effectively communicate, make informed decisions, and lead Sailors throughout their careers. For the students, the first LOK board provided more than an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge; it was also a chance to reflect on their professional growth, identify areas for improvement, and build confidence in their abilities as future Supply Corps Officers. A student from BSOC Class 27-010 said; "Going through my first board helped me recognize areas where I can improve, particularly in how I communicate and present information. It reinforced the importance of preparation, confidence, and continuous professional development."

Boardsmanship is an important part of professional development for future Supply Corps officers. As students prepare for assignments throughout the fleet, they must develop not only technical expertise but also the confidence, judgment, and communication skills necessary to operate in demanding military environments. For Class 27-010, completing the first LOK Board represents an important milestone in their professional development and the culmination of the Foundations portion of BSOC. Through classroom instruction, practical application, and professional development, NSCS prepares future Supply Corps officers to lead Sailors, support Navy operations, and meet the logistical demands of the fleet.
