CollegeLens Expands Its Platform to Help Families Navigate the Biggest Student Loan Changes in 20 Years

CollegeLens is a free college funding platform that helps families see the real cost of college, from FAFSA to the last loan payment.

Federal loan rules just changed. CollegeLens.ai gives families the real numbers: Worth-It Scores, award letter decoder, borrowing calculators.

What's missing is one place where affordability is the first conversation, not an afterthought. CollegeLens is the tool I wish my family had before we made those decisions.”

LAS VEGAS, NV, UNITED STATES, August 31, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- On July 1, 2026, the biggest change to federal student loans in twenty years took effect: Parent PLUS borrowing is now capped, Grad PLUS loans ended for new borrowers, repayment plans were overhauled, and rates went up. Most families are still planning around rules that no longer exist. CollegeLens.ai, the free college funding platform launched this April, today announced a major expansion built for the new rules.

Families often commit to a college before understanding the real cost, because the sticker price is not what they will pay, and the net price after aid is different for every student. CollegeLens shows those numbers up front: the net cost after aid and the monthly loan payment after graduation.

“The problem isn’t a lack of information,” said Sravani Atluri, founder of CollegeLens.ai. “What’s missing is one place where affordability is the first conversation between parents, students, counselors, and financial aid offices, not an afterthought. CollegeLens is the tool I wish my family had before we made those decisions.”

Here is what we built for students, families, and educators

• Worth-It Scores for 3,000+ colleges: each school gets a score from 0 to 100 that weighs what it really costs against how its students do, graduation rates and what graduates earn. Families can see whether a school justifies its price before they apply, and find schools that deliver similar or better outcomes for less.
• Award letter decoder and comparison: upload an award letter and see a clear breakdown of grants and scholarships versus loans, compare offers side by side, and generate an appeal when an offer comes in low
• Borrowing tools built for the new rules: model total debt, the new federal loan caps, and the monthly payment at graduation before signing anything
• The 2026-27 College Funding Guide: a plain-English walkthrough of what college costs now, what changed on July 1, and the order to use every source of money
• Scholarship database and state guides: a searchable scholarship database plus financial aid guides for all 50 states
• Trade school pathways: cost, training time, and real earnings for skilled trades, healthcare, and transportation careers

Five dashboards, one for each stage
With a free account, each student gets a dashboard built for their stage. High school seniors compare award letters and see each school’s funding gap. Current undergrads review the loans they have taken and what one more year adds. Graduate and professional applicants map the gap left by the end of Grad PLUS. Trade students compare training paths and earnings. Every dashboard puts projected earnings and a post-graduation budget next to the borrowing, and household income is never an input.

A free toolkit for school counselors
CollegeLens also introduces a free Educators hub for school counselors: a classroom-ready FAFSA Night deck, printable family handouts, and an embeddable SAI Estimator for school websites, all usable in a computer lab with no student accounts or emails.

A free community for students, parents, and counselors
CollegeLens also hosts a free online community at https://community.collegelens.ai, where families can ask questions about aid offers, deadlines, and borrowing, and hear from counselors and parents who have been through it.

About CollegeLens.ai
CollegeLens was built on a simple idea: families deserve to know what college will actually cost them before they commit. Founded by Sravani Atluri after a decade working in higher education, CollegeLens turns the hardest part of paying for college into something a family can see clearly. In a few minutes, a family can estimate their Student Aid Index, see what a specific school is likely to cost after aid, weigh that against what graduates of that school actually go on to earn, and find out exactly where their funding gap sits and what can close it. Every number traces back to federal data, and the methodology behind each one is published openly. Paying for college is among the largest financial decisions a family will ever make, and too often it gets made with the least information. CollegeLens exists to change that.
